First of all,you need to learn Mining skill by finishing Doric's Quest,which will give you 1300 Mining experience,180 coins and a bronze pickaxe.The most important tool in mining is pickaxe,you can't mine rocks without pickaxes.You can only use a bronze or an iron pickaxe at mining level 1.With your mining level grows up,you will be able to use better pickaxes.Pickaxes can be bought from Nurmof in the Dwarven Mines, Tati in Keldagrim,Bob in Lumbridge,or at the Grand Exchange.
